Well things never get boring around here. We finally get some rain and then on August 27th we get a heavy frost, that's right I said heavy frost. We lost a significant amount of crops as we were not expecting this including a beautiful patch of green beans we had hoped to put in your baskets next week. One thing about Nova Scotia weather, it is never predictable and it keeps things interesting.
We are only 2 1/2 weeks away from Open Farm Day on Sunday Sept 21st from 9am to 5pm so we want to invite you all out to the farm that day. We will be giving tours throughout the day, there will be some wonderful musicians to entertain, free coffee and tea from Just Us! and our farm store will be open. Julie & Kathleen will have lots of delicious items for sale. We will also have a picnic area set up with the kids in mind and I will be doing what I do best and giving a couple of talks throughout the day as well. Hope to see you there. If you feel you have seen all there is to see here then why not check out one of the other 49 farms participating in Open Farm Day this year in Nova Scotia. For more information contact the NS Federation of Agriculture.
Also we will be posting a new recipe under the Blog section of HarvestHand to go with this week's basket. Enjoy!
