Hello everyone and welcome to the start of this year's vegetable CSA.
We are excited to get started with it and hope you are also. So we have some ground to cover here so I will begin with a few points;
1st - Deliveries will be Tuesday afternoons between 4:15pm - 4:45pm in the back corner of the parking lot at 99 Wyse Rd. Here is a link to a view of the parking lot and from this picture we will be somewhere in the back left quadrant if space is available. We will be driving either a black 4door 1//2 ton or a grey extend-a-cab 1/2 ton truck. We can not stay later then 4:45pm so please be there on time so you do not miss us.
2nd - For your first pick up we will be supplying each member with one of our cloth bags for your veggies, we do ask that you bring that bag or another or cooler, etc each week to put your vegetables in.
3rd - Each week there will be an exchange box set out, please use it if there is something in your basket you absolutely don't want. We do not want to be giving you vegetables youo won't use, we work very hard to grow them and you paid for them so please make sure you get what you want.
4th - Each week the weekly share list will be posted on Harvesthand for you to see what will be in your basket, there is also an option for you to chose add on items such as eggs, pork, honey, etc and just bring the cash, cheque, or e-transfer the amount. Also under Add ons you can select Vacation week if you are not going to make your pickup that week. We need 24 hours advance notice for this please. If ordering meat please bring a cooler or cooler bag so that your meat stays frozen.
5th - This is a biggie!!!! Communication is key, we can't fix it if we don't know there is a problem, if you are disappointed with something or unable to make a week, or don't know what to do with a vegetable, ask us. Use Harvesthand and stay in touch, we value you as customers and want this to be a great experience for you, but to do that you need to forget about grocery store produce and recognize the fact that we will be giving you vegetables that are unlike those available in store, there will be a definite difference in nutritional value and taste, but there may be the odd bug, or bug hole in the produce, this is a good thing, it means no pesticides or herbicides were used.
For the first couple of weeks there will be a lot of greens, do not be discouraged, this is normal due to the season and besides greens are really good for you. As we get a few weeks in there will start to be more other veggies and as mentioned there is the exchange basket. We also post recipes on Harvesthand under the Blog section for you to view. All these recipes are ones we as a family like and approve and all recipes we post are quick and easy.
On a final note we do encourage all of you to make the trip to the farm some time that you and your family are free, have a tour and a talk and learn more about where your food comes from and how it is grown and why this is important.
Thank you all for joining us this year and we look forward to getting to know you all.
